She pointed out that involving public incineration activities, the bureau will take action in accordance with Article 29A of the Environmental Quality Act 1974, not only a fine, but for serious behavior, it may also face up to 5 years in prison.
She said that the fine of RM 2000 was a very heavy punishment for individuals, but it seemed lighter to corporate factories.
“If it is publicly incinerated, the fire spreads to a larger range, and it can be fined up to RM 500,000.”
She said that the bureau cooperates with the ASEAN Professional Meteorological Center (ASMC) to provide hotspot information every day. The hotspot is the high -intensity public burning position detected by satellites.
“Public incineration has a negative impact on the air, and further increases the air pollution index (IPU).”
She said that although the number of reports was not very high, there was a lot of risks, because it is currently the dry season, and there are many places in Genda in rice fields, shrubs and forests.
